European Leaders Condemn US Action as ‘Coercion’
European leaders including Emmanuel Macron accused Washington of “bullying and threats”, after the travel bans targeted figures who have been central to efforts to enact legislation governing US-based technology firms.
“For far too long, ideologues in Europe have led organised efforts to coerce American platforms to punish American viewpoints they disagree with,” wrote a senior US official online. “The current administration will not stand for such actions of censorship beyond its borders.”

Germany, Spain, the UK and a chorus of EU officials joined the French president in criticizing the decision.
The bans were imposed on Tuesday against a former EU commissioner involved in crafting the bloc’s Digital Services Act (DSA), along with four anti-disinformation campaigners, from two in Germany and two in the UK.
