Ten individuals sentenced of cyber-bullying directed at Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has ruled against ten people for engaging in the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced accusations of spreading false claims regarding her sex and sexual orientation, in addition to publishing hurtful comments about the couple's 24-year age gap.
The court delivered suspended jail terms of up to eight months to the convicted individuals. The full ruling has yet to be released.
A longstanding unfounded claim suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has spread widely since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France is concurrent with the Macrons engaging in a libel case in the United States of America against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared comparable unfounded claims about the French president's wife's biological sex.
Their lawsuit contends that Owens brushed aside any factual proof contradicting her allegations opting to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has often echoed these allegations on her digital program and social media channels, and in March 2024 declared that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her conviction that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her current spouse when she taught at his secondary school.
The two married in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
